Finch and its predecessor, HSEC, were responsible for most of the mine hoist and winding safety and compliance inspection and testing in Britain over some forty years. Before that, the team worked as part of British Coal.
Finch invested in creating a new business; Tautus, to offer focused and dedicated support to this growing and essential sector.
Tautus currently works with coal, potash, salt and tourist mines as well as emerging mines extracting other critical minerals, carrying out static and dynamic load testing and inspection of mine hoists and winding equipment, and transportation systems. Working with owners and managers of working and tourist mines, we independently test and inspect both legacy and new winders and hoists. These operate in deep shafts and drifts to move both people and materials.
